Hi Puppy. Such a great idea. Too much meanness in this world, and such a shame it happens within the home more than any of us could ever imagine.Blessings to you and yours. Karen

Thanks for putting this out there. As the one who is called to be a sweeper upper of people's ill-conceived actions toward those they are supposed to love, I thank you. If this helps one person it's worth it.

Twinky, there is no danger in calling that number. It will only afford safety to anyone that in danger of abuse at the hands of a loved one. Many measures are taken to protect the victims that seek help. It's a good idea to keep it handy.

I'm sorry but being a man myself...walk away from abuse fast. There is no good reason to be abused. There is no need to take it and there are a lot of people that can help and protect.

Thank you Puppy for giving this number and taking a stand. I wish more people could lean to walk away. Abuse needs a victim but not YOU.

To everyone out there. Try and be strong and take care of yourself and your children.

Sorry if I offended Puppy, I just hate abuse.

Right on Girl!! Good advice and information. I would like to comment on one thing ...Cuddle says Get Out of the relationship and I agree wholeheartedly with that; however, sometimes there ain't no place to go. I spent a month living in my car trying to get help..got none, and ended up back with him for eight more years. Any roof is better than no roof. That does not mean I condone any of it. We must as a society, work on solving all problems of domestic violence. Thanks!

Pyewacket, thank you for commenting on this site and I appreciate your question. No one should ever have to live out of their car and be homeless when the Violence Against Women Act pours money into each state for shelters. The hotline will provide information for each state and community within that state. It provides phone numbers and locations of shelters for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, as well as their children. They may not be in the same town, but should be within 50 miles of anyone needing shelter. So yes, the abused should get out of the situation either by careful planning (if it's safe enough) or by fleeing before they are badly injured or killed. Each situation is different.

Thanks again for asking!

Pup
